Something old

So, in accordance with our "vision" and our budget I have been collecting a menagerie of glass and crystal pieces from some of the local thrift stores and garage sales to use as ceremony and reception decor. We love the idea of using things with a little history to reflect our personalities in our wedding motif; using a variety of mixed and matched vases, votive holders and other treasures of the kind we feel expresses the idea that, "it doesn't always have to match as long as it goes.." Not to mention the money we're saving by buying items we'll likely use again or sell rather than a brand new bulk box of 500 candle holders we'll never want to see again.

I think that we've finally decided on a "color-scheme" more or less, although when people ask me what our colors are I like to refer to them as tones, rather than colors. Choosing colors is so limiting.. What if I find something I love in the wrong color? Bring it on... [as long as it "goes" :)]

The idea is that my maids will wear yellows and his men will wear browns. We'll see how everything metamorphoses over the course of the next seven months.

Love Story

My best friend of four years turned boyfriend of two years proposed to me on May 19th 2010 at Blowing Rocks Nature Preserve in Jupiter Beach, FL. He gave me his Great Grandmother's engagement ring. We are planning for a January 2011 wedding and are up to our ears in wedding bliss craze. I wanted to document the process of planning our "reused & recreated" inspired, rustic wedding and share all of the eco-friendly, recycled material projects we are implementing in order to achieve our dream wedding with a modest budget.
